At the MJL we see ourselves as creative media makers with an end to effect social change. Our workshops and infoshops are the products of combined efforts; the MJL staff, board and volunteer base is made up of writers, techies, musicians, artists, journalists. In short, we are activists from all walks of life who share a social justice vision.

The MJL offers highly useful tips and tactics on best practices when it comes to online activities, from blogging to SMS text messaging effectively. We recognize the benefit of establishing an online presence without sacrificing personal integrity. As such, we provide specialized knowledge on core values and behaviors that will help organizations promote their social justice agendas without compromising their vision and privacy concerns.

Recognizing the enormous potential of social media as an organizing tool has long been a strong suit of the Media Justice League. Because our geography is made up of cultural, racial, and ethnic diversity, tapping into the non-English speaking sector has provided fruitful before and holds even more promise for present and future initiatives.

MJL’s SchemeTeam offers technical know-how, social media expertise, critical analysis tools, and community mobilizing practices in custom-tailored packages that align with the needs of your particular community-based initiatives. Consulting fees are charged on a sliding scale based on budget size and need.

• Presentations: $500, plus related travel costs
• Workshops: $1,000 to $5,000, plus related travel costs
• Half-day or day-long strategy sessions: $5,000
• Coaching, TA, and other projects: $200 per hour
